THE GREEN BERET FOUNDATION
MAY 2021
With the month of May, we welcome the blossoming of spring flowers, celebrate motherhood on Mother’s Day, and wind up the month with Memorial Day. This Memorial Day holiday, observed to honor the men and women who died while serving in the US military, originated following the Civil War and became an official Federal holiday in 1971.
It seems fitting this month of May 2021 to salute through the CTE Gives Back Program, the Green Beret Foundation, an organization that supports one group of our military and America’s Premier Special Operations Force – Green Berets. Highly trained in counter terrorism, fluent in foreign languages, cultures and strategic operation tactics, on any given day the Green Berets are deployed in over 100 countries throughout the world. Compared to the rest of the military, on a per capita basis Green Berets sustain the highest casualty rate due to the nature of their mission and frequent deployments.
The Green Beret Foundation (GBF), a 501 (C) organization founded in 2009, provides Green Berets and their families with emergency, immediate, and ongoing support. GBF has invested 87%, or 87 cents of every dollar, into its programs and services, which has totaled to over $15 million that has directly supported the Regiment and its families. GBF is the only non-profit solely dedicated to supporting Green Berets and their families that has achieved a 4-Star Rating with Charity Navigator. Also, GBF is the sole special operations benevolent organization that is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the purpose of preparation, presentation, and prosecution of disability claims.
As the “icing on the cake” to the recipient of this month’s charity, Cable Tie Express is pleased to be the title sponsor for the 4th annual Steps ‘n Salutes Green Beret 5K being held live in Loveland, OH on 9/11 and virtual throughout the globe. Also, the Green Beret Foundation is one of three charity partners benefitting from the Great American Relay, an amazing running event that starts on 9/11 in Boston and ends in Los Angeles. The event will be comprised of 415 legs, setting paces across 3,000+ miles in 36 days! Each leg of the journey will be dedicated in memory of or in honor of Green Berets, Firefighters, or Police Officers!
