PREVAIL
Safety is and always needs to be a top priority among everyone – men, women, children – and for all races, genders, and nationalities. One organization which truly recognizes that need in the Hamilton County area in Indiana is Prevail. Its vision is one of having a safe community; however, when crime and abuse occur, a compassionate and restorative response is essential.
Founded in 2008, Prevail exists with a powerful mission statement: “Prevail strives to empower victims of crime and abuse on their path to healing, while engaging the community to support safe, healthy relationships.”
All of Prevail’s services are free and confidential and Prevail’s advocates are there to support anyone who has experienced violence. With every person’s situation being unique and no general plan fitting every circumstance, each person has an advocate who works to develop a safety plan, provides support for the individual and family in times of trauma, and helps those make a new start with assistance to find housing, employment, food transportation, budget planning, and more.
This organization also works hand in hand with the Hamilton County Prosecutors Office and other court entities to assist with the legal aspects of the situation. In addition, providing support groups with those who have experienced similar circumstances are helpful to the victims of violence and trauma. On the broader scale, Prevail visits schools, give presentations, trains teachers and more in developing partnerships of support.
Recognizing the value Prevail brings to so many who have experienced violence or trauma, it is with great satisfaction that Cable Tie Express and its CTE Gives Back! program shares its charity dollars this month with Prevail.
